Financial Education

Participants in the Financial Education workshops meet one evening each week for six weeks.  We discuss the information provided in the Money Smart curriculum for the first 5 weeks, then on the 6th week we put our household budgets together based on information we have been collecting over the previous weeks.

The topics we discuss include:

  • financial decision-making
  • financial goal-setting
  • the importance of saving
  • the importance of a household budget
  • why your credit report is an asset
  • understanding the different types of loans
  • how to use credit wisely
  • understanding your rights and responsibilities as a credit consumer
  • understanding home loans

This workshop series is required for all Individual Development Account (IDA) participants.  Click here for more information about the IDA program.

CCLT offers this workshop series 4 times each year.  For more info, contact Loretta Walker Kelly at 503-659-1618 x3 or by e-mail.
