Homeownership Counseling

CCLT staff provides homeownership counseling to potential homebuyers.  The counseling includes pulling your credit report from all three reporting bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.  CCLT staff will review the report with you to make sure that everything on your report is accurately reported.  Staff will also look at your household income and debt to help you determine an affordable house price.

When a potential homebuyer leaves their counseling session, they will have an Action Plan of steps to take to improve their ability to purchase a home.  These steps may include creating a household budget, paying down current debt, controlling spending, making savings for down payment & closing costs a priority, and working to correct inaccurate accounts on the credit report.
